Overview
The FIFA Club World Cup brings together the best clubs from each confederation. In 2025 it became a 32-team tournament in the United States, and Chelsea beat Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 in the final at MetLife Stadium.
Until 2023 the tournament was a short event with seven teams, usually won by the European champion. Real Madrid won it five times (2014, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2022), Barcelona three times and Bayern Munich twice, with Manchester City taking the 2023 title in Saudi Arabia.
The revamped 2025 tournament had 32 teams. Chelsea won the final on 13 July 2025: Cole Palmer scored twice and Joao Pedro once in a 3-0 win. PSG's Joao Neves was sent off late on. The next edition is planned for 2029 and the host had not been confirmed at the time of writing.
How it works
The 2025 format: eight groups of four, then a knockout stage from the round of 16 to the final. Clubs qualify as continental champions or through a ranking.
